Hi, I’m Eba.
I am a digital strategist and a journalist. I love helping news organizations and nonprofits find, understand and sustain their online audiences.
I’ve been in the news business for 15 years. In that time, I’ve done a little bit of everything: reporting, copy editing, page and web design, web production, social media management, audience engagement, newsletter strategy and editing, organizing in-person audience events and more. I’ve led teams, and I’ve trained dozens of other journalists in multiple newsrooms on digital tools and technology, online efficiency and best practices.
I care about my work, but there’s more to me, too.
I’m also a journaler, a daydreamer and a stargazer. I was born in the country of Sudan, raised in the state of Mississippi and now live in New York City with my wife. I read a lot, draw a lot and take a lot of road trips. (I’ve visited 43/50 states in the U.S.)
I craft and DIY and hand-letter and practice calligraphy. I sometimes teach art lessons on embroidery and painting to children. I like books and cats and laughter and hula-hooping. I drink a lot of water and I’m cutting back on coffee. I stargaze and meditate and daydream. Sometimes there’s dancing and cartwheeling. I am passionate about creating and living and stories and suicide prevention and vulnerability.
I appreciate: respected silence; thoughtfulness; perfectly spiced chai; getting lost.
